The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Showcases Persian Art and Islamic Heritage at Brunei’s Islamic Architecture Symposium 2026
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Brunei Darussalam participated actively in the Islamic Architecture Symposium 2026 presenting a rich collection of Iranian artistic and cultural works including Persian carpets Nastaliq calligraphy traditional handicrafts and photographs of iconic Iranian mosques attracting significant attention from officials academics diplomats and visitors.
As part of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s cultural diplomacy efforts, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Brunei Darussalam actively participated in the Islamic Architecture Symposium 2026, held under the theme “Barakah in Buildings: Architectural Practices and Sustainability in Brunei Darussalam.”
Organized by the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Heritage Museum (BKISHHB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Development and Brunei’s leading public universities—Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)—the symposium provided a platform for dialogue among policymakers, academics, researchers, and professionals on Islamic architecture and sustainable development.
The Embassy’s pavilion showcased a diverse range of Iranian cultural and artistic heritage, including Persian Nastaliq calligraphy, Khatam and Moarraq craftsmanship, Islamic tilework, traditional Isfahan painted Qalamkar art, and photographs of some of Iran’s most iconic mosques and architectural landmarks.
Due to the richness and diversity of its exhibits, the Iranian pavilion received considerable attention from Bruneian visitors, government officials, cultural figures, academics, and members of the diplomatic community.
Coinciding with Iran’s National Carpet Day, the exhibition also featured exquisite Persian carpets, which attracted particular interest from Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as other distinguished guests and visitors.
The Embassy’s participation highlighted the richness of Iranian-Islamic civilization and contributed to strengthening cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Brunei Darussalam.
